ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that helps consumers save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices. In fact, in 2005 alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $12 billion on their energy bills, while preventing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 23 million vehicles, the number of all the cars in California and Illinois combined.

The average home spends $1,500 on utility bills every year, with about half of those dollars going to heating and cooling. Consumers who choose ENERGY STAR HVAC equipment cut as much as 30% of their heating and cooling bills.
