Naperville, Ill. - Nicor Gas' cornerstone is providing safe, reliable natural gas service. During gas emergencies, Nicor works hand-in-hand with area firefighters to restore service quickly and safely. To honor firefighters in the 450 communities in its service territory, Nicor is sponsoring Hero Days at Brookfield Zoo, offering free admission to firefighters and discounts to their families from September 11 to October 25, 2002.
"For these men and women going to work often means putting your life on the line," said Rocco D'Alessandro, vice president distribution services, Nicor Gas. "This month our entire nation will memorialize those lost in the devastating attacks of September 11. In honor of that one-year anniversary, Nicor is grateful for this opportunity to join forces with long-time partner Brookfield Zoo to recognize the dedication and hard work of our local firefighters."
"Hero Days" officially begins September 11, at which time zoo admission and parking will be free for all patrons. Then from September 12 to October 25, admission is free for firefighters who present a valid firefighter's badge or ID, along with a complimentary ticket that Nicor will present in advance to area fire stations. In addition, each firefighter may bring up to three guests for half off the regular admission.
