Naperville, Ill. -- Nicor Gas' cornerstone is providing safe, reliable natural gas service. During gas emergencies, Nicor works hand-in-hand with area firefighters to restore service quickly and safely. To honor firefighters in the more than 640 communities it services, Nicor is sponsoring "Heroes Days" at Brookfield Zoo, offering free admission to firefighters and discounts to their families from September 11 to December 31, 2003.
"Nicor Gas and fire departments have a close working relationship. Not only do we work side-by-side during emergencies, but Nicor also conducts specialized training for firefighters to enable their preparedness during natural gas emergencies," said Rocco D'Alessandro, senior vice president operations, Nicor Gas. "Heroes Days at Brookfield Zoo is our way of thanking these men and women for their hard work year-round. Nicor is grateful for this opportunity to join forces with Brookfield Zoo to recognize the dedication and hard work of our local firefighters."
"Heroes Days" runs from September 11 to December 31, 2003, and admission is free for firefighters who present a valid firefighter's badge or ID, along with a complimentary ticket that Nicor will present in advance to area fire stations. In addition, each firefighter may bring up to three guests for half off the regular admission.
