NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Nicor announced today the appointment of John F. Riordan to the Nicor Board of Directors. Riordan is the president and CEO of the Gas Technology Institute, the organization created in April 2000 by the combination of Institute of Gas Technology and Gas Research Institute.
Riordan has more than 40 years of experience in the natural gas and chemical industries. He held several senior positions from 1988 to 1998 with MidCon Corp., serving as President and CEO of MidCon; as Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America; and as a member of the board of Occidental Petroleum Corporation.

"John has extensive expertise in the energy industry and now serves our industry through the Gas Technology Institute. We welcome him and the valuable perspective he will bring to Nicor."
Riordan is a trustee of Niagara University and a member of the board of directors of the University of Buffalo School of Management, National Fuel Gas Company, and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation. Riordan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Niagara University and an MBA degree from the University of Buffalo. He also completed the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.
