If you're building new construction, Nicor Gas has a service that's been designed with you in mind.
A Builder First Specialist can assist you with the following:

- Check status of installation

Builder checklist for gas service installation:
Charges that may apply:
- Services that exceed 60 feet from the front property line will be billed an excess footage charge.
- Services for homes that were demolished and rebuilt will be billed a reconnection fee.
- Nicor Gas may encounter winter construction conditions (for example, frozen ground) during the period from November 15 through March 15 that increase installation costs. If you request service line installation or revisions under such winter construction conditions, you are responsible for the estimated fully distributed cost of the incremental activities required for work under such conditions.
Information you should know:
- Apply for gas service at the same time you apply for your building permit.
- Keep an eight-foot path for the proposed service clear of building materials.
- Mark any underground utilities not included in the JULIE location.
- If multiple meters are required, identify and label fuel lines according to unit numbers.
